Meet Tia’ Johnson

Hello, my name is Tia, I am 35 and I have 3 kids but only 2 of them live with me at the moment.

I am currently enrolled in school for the Licensed

Vocational Nurse (LVN) Program.

Before coming to Abundant Blessings, I was living in my car with my daughters. During that period of my life, I was devastated, scared, and confused because I did not understand how my life had gotten to that point. One day, I noticed that I only had $20 dollars left in my pocket, but thankfully one my closest friends referred me to Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) and they sent me to Abundant Blessings.

During the transition to Abundant Blessings, I felt excited and nervous at the same time because I have never lived in  shelter before. This was a new experience for my family and I. Something that I immediately noticed was that my daughters were smiling more, and I was grateful that I was able to cook for them. That meant everything to me. I feel like this was the best thing to ever happen to me. All I needed was an opportunity to save money and with Abundant Blessings I am able to do that.

What I like about Abundant Blessings is that it feels like a home, it does not feel like a shelter at all. The staff is extremely helpful, and the Shelter is a safe place for me and my girls. Abundant Blessings, supplies you with daily meals, tissue, sheets, pillows, blankets, and hygiene products. What I like about most about Abundant Blessings is that my kids and I like it here; we always feel comfortable and safe. I am so blessed to be here.  May 2021
